((This is a realistic RP set in the near future. There are no alien races, or alternate deminsions. Technology has not greatly changed so don't expect to be doing combat in mechs, or in space. You can pretty much do anything in this RP that you could do in a real life situation, thus it's a realistic RP. Have fun and enjoy.))
The year was 2020, it was 8 years since the worlds major wars had adbruptly ceased, 8 years since the first incidents. The US had finished their part of the war in Iraq, and had left their government to regulate them selves. The US had now set their sights on Iran and was determind to act upon them before they were able to obtain fully funcional nuclear weapons. The forces had began to mobolize, but none knew that the intended war would never occur.
The first reports came from Africa. Larger cities in unstable countries reported in first. The reports came in slow at first, easily over looked by many due to other overwhelming desieses such as aids and the increasing avien flu outbreaks. People only began to take notice once the outbreaks moved into richer regions. Many thought that it was a virus attacking the central nervous system, causing those infected to loose recognition of their loved ones.
It was at first unknown to the rest of the world when the infection was brought to China, most likely from African smugglers in the Indian Ocean. The Chinese government at first attempted to eradicate any one which was infected, though this inturn led to anyone infected trying to flee the country, and to the dissmay of the rest of the world, many succeded. Due to the vast population of China and their close proximity with the Middle East and the rest of Asia, the desiese spred like wild fire. It was not long before the rest of the world found out about this outbreak, and it's scale, and not long after that that the outbreak became not only a national, but a global epidemic.
Countries scrambled to close their borders to the rest of the world, but for most it was to late. The desies thay had hoped to lock out had already infultrated their nations borders months ago. By 2013 every country possible was in a state of emergency. The war technology of advanced global superpowers such as The United States, European Union, and Peoples Democratic Republic of China failed against an enemy which had no fear, no nead of resources, rest, nurishment, or an economy. Their instuments of war such as FA-22 Raptors, Typhoon Euro Fighters, and large quantities of Chinese Migs could do nothing against an enemy which needed a single direct hit. What was the point of a Hellfire missle which could suck the Oxygen from a room and turn it to flames, ballistic missiles which could level cities, carpet bombs, and napalm against an enemy that could continue to fight with all of it's limbs removed, and it's body mangled.
This does not mean that only advanced countries were at risk, third world countries did not have the man power or the resources to sustain a war against an enemy such as this. Their citizens fear often driven by what they did not understand, and there was something which people did not understand, it would be an incident such as this. The dead were walking the Earth.
Many countries have taken different messures in handling their own individual infestations. The US has evacuated almost everything East of the Rocky's, North Korea has locked down all borders and has executad all showing signs of infection, Australia has shut down the coasts, Cuba has become a haven for refugees, Pakistan and Iran have gone to war over refugees entering and leaving their countries, and Russia has locked down their massive borders with threats of nuclear strike to "Secure their borders at all costs."
It is now 2020. 6 years since the mark of the end of the world as everyone once knew it. Very few parts of the world continue to exist any were close to normally. It seems as though only thoughs contries which were significantly self sustaining, agresively defensive, or with the ability to sustain a stable governing system after the great economic and resource crashes of 2014 could continue to hold themselves together.
Capitalism and a faulty Democracy had failed in Russia due to conflicts in the Chechen war, and difficulties with the massive outbreaks leading to a reconstruction of the USSR and a reformation of the Communist party. The country needed their people to become self sufficient, self sustaining, and to stop relying on other countries economies for their survival in this post apocolyptic era. Due to the new USSR's quick reformation and stabalization during the winter when the undead froze, they were able to keep a grasp on governmental stability. Just as in most every other country the USSR's citizens were at first not properly informed of their situation, this lead to several attempted uprissings, and coups from their own military forces. The government however did not bend to these threats and repetedly called upon their Spetsnaz troops to cut down any uprising, at all costs. The country has just recently began sending out military units into surrounding territories to stop the threat before it reaches their borders. Unknown to other countries, their own citizens, or even much of the government, the GRU (Russian military intelligence) Has began sending out troops into many parts of the world to relay information back through the GRU Space Intelligence Directorate's more than 130 SIGINT satellites into orbit. These satellites are being kept in orbit now due to the USSR's use of Nuclear power plants protected by the Fifteenth Directorate of the new KGB, and sustained by the USSR's vast abundance of processed Uranium.
Now one GRU agent by the name of Aleksey Nicolai Chebrikov walks through the dessolate streets of a once florishing Denver. He was to gather all possible intelligence of the US's Rocky Mountain border, tactics, situation, civillian status, and military power. He is a part of a 12 man GRU group inserted near the Denver area via Hind gunship.
Aleksey wears a maroon and white striped telnyashka shirt worn under his Berezka camo Bekas BDUs with GRU patches, but no indications of rank. GRU Issue special forces black ops boots, olive drab Centurion elbow pads, black SOLAG assault gloves, and an olive drab bandana worn over his head like a doo-rag. Aleksey wears an olive drab Grad-1 chest rig with an extra set of GP-30 grenade pouches on his black lether enlisties belt. He wore olive drab knee pads and had a drop-leg Serpa holster on each leg, custom molded for a 10mm Glock 20c with attached laser and light. The sleeves of his Bekas BDU shirt was rolled up past his elbows and he wore a dark green and grey shemagh loosely around his neck. His eyes were covered by a pair of dark grey tinted glasses set in small circular gunmetal colored frames.
Aleksey carries a custom built 7.62x39mm AK104. It is made from all milled parts and has olive drab furniture on it. The olive drab folding stock has a compass built into its right side. The AK104 also has an attached GP-30 40mm grenade lancher and attached red dot scope on it's reciever rail, and detachable PVS-7 silencer. He also carries a custom built Saiga12 8 inch conversion breaching shotgun. It has all milled parts, and olive drab furniture just as does the AK104, and also has an attched red dot scope. The Glock 20c's he carries as side arms were also custom built by the company. Their egronomic rubber grips were injection molded to fit his hands. They are two tone with black slides, mags, and accents. The slides are matte black and are engraved with the cryllic lettering for "GRU USSR Special Issue." The grips are olive drab with rough texturing on the sides for added slip resistance and an embosed emblem of the GRU. He also carries a silenced VSS rifle in two parts in his ruck.
::He walks through an alley way, his eyes alert behind the dark glasses. His finger was ready on the trigger of his rifle. This area was not secured by US troops, making it an unknown area of undead activity, but was also so close to the new US's temporary safe zone borders that there could be troops anywhere, troops which would not take a liking to Soviet Intelligence in their country. He was well trained with many years of experience on his side. This war against the undead was one which he has fought in his homeland since the beginings of the crisis. He pushed on his radio's PTT button and spoke into his throat mic in Russian to the other nearby GRU soldiers.:: "I have spotted no OpFor since entering into the city, living or dead. I am going to continue West. Everyone keep your lines open, traffic to a minimum, noise down, and watch each others backs. Keep fire to a minimum to conserve ammo. I want sighted semi shots only, make sure to hit their heads. No need for double taps unless you get into it with the American OpFor. Our steel core AP rounds should penitrate their Dragon Skin armor like butter, but I don't want it to come to that. Keep your PVS-7's on your rifles to quiet the shots. Good luck comrades, I'll meat you at the first rally point, ETA 6:00am, just before dawn. I hope your NVG/FLIR goggles are working right. I don't want you shooting blind. Aleksey, out." ::He let off the PTT and continued down the dark quiet streets, AK104 at the ready.::
((Ok, yeah about 8 times longer than I had origionally intended to make this first post, but hey, I wanted to get this story line going right. I'm glad to have anyone join in in the RP to combat the zombie menace. Remember, you don't have to use a Russian soldier, that's just the background I've been working on. Keep it realistic, and keep it true to the story line of this broken world. Any questions about what's going on, about the story line, character, or if something will be acceptable feel free to shoot me a PM. I hope that this will work for you all. Oh, and my next posts will be shorter ^.=.- ))
